Kuwait resumes direct flights to Egypt

Kuwait  resumes direct flights to Egypt

After a long period of stopping direct flights between the two countries.

The spokesman for the General Administration of Civil Aviation in Kuwait, Saad Al-Otaibi, said that the Kuwaiti civil aviation authorities informed EgyptAir, Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways that they would allow airlines wishing to resume flights from Kuwait to Egypt to resume their activities, after a long period of stopping direct flights between  The two countries.

Al-Otaibi confirmed in statements yesterday that "this step comes to facilitate the travel procedures of the Egyptian community wishing to leave Kuwait to their country by direct flight."

He said that the travel procedures "will be conditional on adhering to special health requirements to counter the spread of Covid-19."  He did not specify a specific date for the start of these flights.

There is a large Egyptian community in Kuwait, estimated at 700 thousand people, which is the second after the Indian community.

Kuwait had banned commercial flights between it and more than 30 countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and India, which it considered a major threat to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

Since the suspension of direct flights between Kuwait and Egypt, many travelers have resorted to transit flights through a third country, which has raised the cost of flights in an exaggerated manner.
