Beirut airport traffic recorded a decline ... how much was its percentage?

 The scene in the travel movement to and from Lebanon from the beginning of the year 2020 until the end of last November was marked by a decline, like most airports in the world, in light of expectations that the general total of passengers at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, until the end of the year 2020, will not exceed three million passengers,  After the number recorded during the first eleven months of this year two million two hundred nine thousand and 926 passengers, a decline of about 73 percent from the same period of the year 2019, which ended its year of eight million and 133 thousand and 602 passengers.


The number of flights to and from Lebanon also decreased from the beginning of the year until the end of last November by 64 percent, and the number of these flights landed and took off 24,243 flights, compared to 67,438 flights in the same period of 2019.


The airport traffic was distributed during November as follows:


Travelers

The number of passengers who used Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut during the month of November decreased by nearly 50 percent from what it was in the same period last year, and the total number of passengers reached 219 thousand and 900 passengers, compared to 438 thousand and 599 passengers in November 2019, a decrease of 49  86 percent.  As the number of arrivals to Lebanon decreased by 52 percent and recorded 99,569 passengers, the number of departure passengers also decreased by 48 percent, and it recorded 119,388 passengers, and the number of transit passengers decreased by 34.28 percent and 943 passengers were recorded.


Aircraft movement

The total number of flights at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut reached 2,368 last November, a decrease of 48.35% compared to November 2019, as the number of flights coming to Lebanon decreased by 48.43% and reached 1183 flights, and the number of flights decreased.  Departure from Lebanon increased by 48.27% and amounted to 1185 flights.


It is noteworthy that the total number of passengers at the airport during the first week of December reached 52,605 passengers, compared to 100 thousand and 23 passengers in the first week of the last month of last year 2019, a decrease of 47.40 percent.
